My First Lined Bag

I have made a couple crocheted bags before, but this is the first one with a fabric liner. I loved the pattern, but I'm not so sure I like the finished bag. It was really easy to work up. It just seems awkwardly shaped to me. Most of the storage area is on the sides and looks like it might spill out if you're not careful. It has a magnetic snap which will help hold things in, but may take away from the storage space. I guess I just need to start using it to see if I like it or not.

It's made with Lionbrand Microspun, so it has a nice soft, flexible feel to it. And it looks much better than regular worsted weight yarn. I don't think I'd ever use a bag made out of acrylic ww yarn. The next bag I want to try is something felted.

Toy Swap!

We got our box from the Crochetville Toy Swap today! My kids were so excited -before they even opened the box! Bizzyboppers packed a box full of wonderful surprises for us. There's a doll missing from the picture because it's taking a nap with my daughter.

My son was thrilled with his rocket ship bag.
Inside the bag are aliens and astronauts! They've been taking off and landing all over the house!

There was a doll and a bag for my daughter.
Trying on the backpack.
The hair color is a good match! Although my daughter can't keep hers out of her eyes!
She even fell asleep clutching the dolls hair!
Also in the box were: hot chocolate, a Wisconsin magnet, note cards, earrings and a bracelet. Now if I can just hide those from the kids!

Snoopy Bag

This was my first attempt at doing a crochet graph. For those of you that have no idea what that is, you take a picture, graph it out with graph paper, and then use each square to represent a stitch. That may seem overly simplified, but it wasn't as hard as I expected. There's no pattern for the bag. It's just rectangles/squares single crocheted together and I added a magnetic snap closure, because I think they're fun.

My daughter loved it. Too bad for her, it was destined for another little girl as part of Crochetville's Small Toy Swap.

Small Train

I made this for a little boy as part of Crochetville's Small Toy Swap. Since the swap is over and the toy has been sent, I can now post the pictures without ruining the surprise! I did write down the pattern as I went, but I got so frustrated with this little engine that I'm not sure if I'll finish it up any time soon. Originally there were other train cars that would link on, maybe someday.

A Mouse in the House?

Normally I would not approve of bringing a mouse into any one's house, but this one might qualify for an exception to that generalization. So far he has not left behind any of the annoying tell-tale signs of a mouse's presence. I'll keep my eye out for any future development. I also have testers double checking him for me. If he proves to be the innocent mouse he pretends to be, then he will soon be for sale at Em’s Emporium at etsy.com! (The pattern is now available to purchase.)

Our Little Snake

It's been awhile since I actually bought a crochet pattern. I've been having too much fun with my own designs. Recently I came across a pattern that I couldn't resist. This little snake had such a neat design with it's coils!

My son was pretty excited about this one too, since he knew he was going to get one. We disagreed on some colors before deciding to pattern it after our old corn snake Sheila. Sheila was a reverse okeetee corn snake.

I love how the stitches in the coil look a little like scales.

If you are interested in the pattern, it is from Nuts About Crochet.
